What exactly is Coreg? What is it used for?

How do I take my Coreg? What if I miss a dose?

Coreg, which is manufactured in the form of a tablet, is taken orally twice a day with food. When patients first start taking Coreg, they usually do so in low dosages, which may be increased every 1-2 weeks until the physician finds a dosage that works best for the patient. Always follow the directions on your prescription to ensure you are receiving the correct amount. Never take more or less then what was directed by your doctor. Also never stop taking Coreg without your doctor’s permission, doing so may lead to your symptoms worsening.

What happens when I take Coreg? Within 30 minutes your blood pressure should lower, and within an hour, symptoms of heart failure should significantly improve.

And if you forget to take a dose of your Australia Coreg… take it as soon as you remember. If you don’t remember until close to the time you’re suppose to take your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to the dosing schedule your physician prescribed you to. Note: DO NOT DOUBLE DOSE!!

If you or a loved one does overdose, seek medical attention immediately. In the event that you or someone else collapses or stops breathing, call your local medical services (dial 911).

PLEASE NOTE: Although Coreg aids in lowering a patient’s blood pressure, it is not a cure for heart failure or high blood pressure, but more or less a treatment to measure them by.

What are some of the side effects I might experience?

Patients taking Coreg may or may not experience one or more of the following side effects:

1. Headache
2. Lightheadedness
3. Tiredness
4. Vision Changes
5. Body or Leg Swelling
6. Dizziness
7. Difficulty Falling or Staying Asleep
8. Joint Pain
9. Diarrhea

Contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

1. Weight Gain
2. Chest Pain
3. Fainting
4. Difficulty Breathing
5. Slow, Irregular Heartbeat
6. Abdominal Pain
7. Dark Urine
8. Yellowing of the Skin or Eyes
9. Loss of Consciousness
10. Vomiting
11. Loss of Appetite
12. Seizures
13. Changes of Blood Sugar Level
14. Frequent Urination
15. Thirst
16. Dry Mouth
17. Flushing
18. Dry Skin
19. Sore Throat, Fever, Cough, or Other Signs of Infection

PLEASE NOTE: If you just started taking Australian Coreg, let your doctor know if you are taking any of the following medications:

1. Insulin – Interactions with Coreg may further decrease patient’s blood sugar levels
2. Calcium channel blocking agents including diltiazem (ex. Cardizem) or verapamil (ex. Calan) – Interactions with Coreg may worsen a patient’s side effects
3. Antidiabetic Agents including:
   • sulfonylurea (acetohexamide – ex. Dymelor)
   • tolazamide (ex. Tolinase) or tolbutamide (ex. Orinase)
   • glyburide (ex. DiaBeta, Glynase or Micronase)
   • glipizide (ex. Glucotrol)
   • gliclazide (ex. Diamicron)
   • chlorpropamide (ex. Diabinese)

What are some of the warnings or precautions?

Inform your doctor before taking Coreg if you have or ever have had asthma or another lung disease, diabetes, heart, kidney or blood vessel disease, pheochromocytoma or an overactive thyroid gland.

Patients taking Coreg may experience drowsiness; if this is the case, you should not drive a car or operate machinery until you know exactly how the drug Coreg affects you. For those that do become dizzy or lightheaded, we recommend you sit or lie down, and once you’re feeling better, stand up slowly.

Pregnancy - If you are pregnant or become pregnant while taking Coreg, we recommend you stop taking your medication and contact your doctor. Although no studies on pregnant woman have been conducted, research has shown Coreg to have negative effects on pregnant animals. Taking Coreg while breast-feeding is also not recommended since Coreg may be harmful to the infant.

PLEASE NOTE: It’s always best to talk to your doctor or pharmacist about the use of Coreg if you are pregnant or breast-feeding before you start drug treatment.

Allergies and Drug Interactions - If you have any allergies to food products or bee stings or are allergic to Coreg or any other drugs inform your doctor or pharmacist. 17. Vitamins and Herbal Products

Surgery - For those planning to have surgery, including dental surgery while on Coreg, we suggest you inform your doctor and/or dentist that you are taking the drug prior to surgery.

PLEASE NOTE: Coreg should always be stored in a dry place, away from heat or direct sunlight, at room temperature and out of the reach of children.
